First Friday – downtown Raleigh

Tonight after living in Raleigh for almost four months I finally made it to First Friday. First Friday is an event held in downtown Raleigh where local business, art galleries, and restaurants stay open later so people can come out and enjoy them. There are also special events, displays, and live music.

Poor Tom I *made* him come out and have fun. I’m so mean.

Tom and I decided to eat at Woody’s at City Market before meeting Bernie and Rose at Benelux Cafe.

We also got to stop by a couple art galleries, Visual Art Exchange and Artspace.

Artspace had a LoPop Shop in the 2nd gallery and I got to buy some cute fridge magnets from Amy Yeager (I love cute magnets!) The exhibit in the 1st gallery was great as well, I loved all the different ways the artist drew birds.

Tom and Bernie had never been to Artspace before, I’m glad we all go to go.

There were so many things going on that we didn’t get to see everything, but I’m glad we made it out. I’m already looking forward to next month.

Riverwalk and the Azalea Festival

Tom and I made it to downtown Wilmington today in time to catch the last bit of the Azalea Festival

He let me grab his camera to take these two pics of the bridge and the Henrietta…

… but then took it back and started shooting a few of me.

After walking around and seeing the venders, we ate at Dock Street and then came here to take pictures. Â I really enjoyed walking around downtown Wilmington again, especially since it was such a beautiful day. Â The sun setting on the water and the historic buildings has always been so beautiful to me. Â Downtown Raleigh is nice, but nothing beats the riverwalk.

Things I love Tuesday – Raleigh

Yesterday Brandy took me on a little walking tour of downtown Raleigh.

I love seeing the mixture of historic buildings with modern ones.

One of the places we went was a thrift store called Father and Sons.

They had some pretty weird stuff, lol.

And some pretty familiar stuff.

I’m really enjoying exploring and learning about Raleigh, the more I find the more I love.

Also: warm weather for exploring, Earl Grey #13 from TeaGshwendner with milk, shopping in Cameron Village, meeting neighbors who also have a little dog, finally starting to learn my way around Raleigh, Â cute refrigerator magnets, watching LOST while sitting in a comfy recliner, finding yummy a Japanese take-out place 5 min away, and being reminded of my blessings.
