Tom’s parents came to visit us for the weekend so we decided to eat brunch at the Farmers Market Restaurant today. Michael had eaten there before and recommended it, I’m so glad he did because we really enjoyed it. They’ve got some antique farm equipment and tractors, and murals on the walls. I even got to take a picture of Mr. Taylor by one.

Franklin Street

This past weekend Tom took me to Chapel Hill for the afternoon.

We had lunch at a sports bar and got there just in time to catch the Carolina game.  It was fun to be in Chapel Hill watching the game with a room full of home town fans, especially since we won.  :)

After that we walked around and took pictures for a bit.

I loved this shop display, a dress made of doilies and tissue paper, so pretty!

My souvenir of the trip, a fridge magnet (I’ve sort of been collecting them lately)

Before we left we stopped in at Sugarland to get dessert. I had a creme brule and Tom got a red velvet cupcake, they were so good! The bakery was very cute and cozy, I could have stayed there all night.

Tom hiding from the camera…  ;)

I really enjoyed myself, Franklin Street is beautiful and I’m looking forward to going back.

There’s a few more pics here at my Flickr account.

Raman noodles eat your heart out

I first tried Pho Soup at a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant and loved it, but haven’t had it since. Last weekend I found some instant Pho at an Asian market and have been hooked.

There’s something about the flavor of the broth. Its so good, and anything that cooks in less than 3 minutes makes me happy.

So much better than Raman. I could eat this every day.

Things I Love Tuesday – 2/16/10

UNC basketball – They’ve been losing a lot lately but I still enjoy getting into the game.

Root Beer Floats – I know I’ve mentioned them before but they’re SO GOOD.

Snow – I get to see it so rarely that I love it when we get snow here.

Valentine’s Day – I’ve always loved this holiday, whether I’m single or in a relationship, and this year mine was wonderful.

Watching 30 rock, Writing in my Journal, Pretty Stationary, Gorging on Valentine’s Day Chocolates, Watching Rockzilla Play,  The New Season of LOST,  Making Grilled Shrimp at Home with Butter and Seasonings, and Brownies with Ice Cream.

Tiramisu at Amelia Cafe

Tonight I went to Amelia Cafe in Durham and had the best tiramisu I’ve had in ages!  I love it when it’s got a lot of espresso, not just a lot of creme.

They’re attached to a brazilian restaurant so I was hoping to find some portuguese items but they didn’t have any. They had such a great variety of cookies and pastries, but unfortunately no pastéis de natas. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to bake those myself sometime.

Here’s there brochure, I wish I could try one of everything.  They did advertise crepes (which I also love), so I’d like to go back and try them next time I’m in the area.
