Days With My Father

I recently heard about this beautiful site from Eddie’s blog, it’s called Days With My Father.  It’s a photo journal about a photographer and his father who suffered from Alzheimer’s.  It’s beautifully  put together and moving, definitely  check it out.

Carina’s Adventure

Carina came with me to Raleigh this past weekend, and had an adventure of her own…

You know what I feel like?  A road trip!

Yay! Where are we going?

Great idea, the tea shop for a nice cup of tea.  I love strawberry white tea, it’s my favorite.

I get to drive us home right?

Self Portrait Thursday – 1/28/10

Sitting in the lobby at work

Today was pretty rough at work, I had the meanest most difficult customers I’d had in a while.

I’ve been working in a call center for about 5 and half years now, I know how to calm people down and let the nasty comments roll right off my back.   But a few times a year you get a REALLY bad one.  Then your day just goes downhill from there.

I was so glad to clock out at the end of the day.   Hopefully  tomorrow will be better.

Rockzilla!

Saturday I went to Locked & Loaded to see Rockzilla play.  I hadn’t seen them play in a few years, I forgot how much fun their shows are.  They play classic and party rock, mostly stuff from the 80’s and 90’s. Basically stuff everyone knows and loves to party and drink to.   They had a fill in drummer that night, a 24 year old kid who’s parents named him after members of Motley Crue, lol. Needless to say he fit right in.  ;)

Jay and Mike doing a dual lead.

It was such a fun show, as usual there were drunk people dancing, this time on top of the table I was trying to eat at. Thankfully I was able to save my plate of fried mushrooms before they got stepped on, lol.  They play a few times a month around the Raleigh area so check out their myspace for current dates.

Tea Discovery

I wanted to get away from Wilmington for a bit so I decided to come up to Raleigh and stay with Tom for the weekend.  The more I come here the more I really start to love it. The weather was kind of cold and rainy but I still had the opportunity to do a little exploring. Driving through Cameron Village I saw a shop that said it was a tea merchant, so we decided to check it out.

That’s how I discovered TeaGshwendner, and let me tell you I was impressed.  I usually prefer tea rooms to tea shops, (I love the fru fru teacups, scones, etc) but when I walked in I was impressed by the huge selection and the tea knowledge of the owner.   They have a good balance of asian, traditional, and modern style accessories.  I like the teas they offer better than Teavana, which seems to be a little less traditional than what  I care for (popcorn in a tea blend? really?).

They also serve tea by the cup so I got a lemon vanilla white tea, very yummy.  I’ll definitely be going back.  It was so hard to keep from buying a ton of loose leaf to take home, haha.

I love a good cup of hot tea when it’s cold and yucky outside.  :)

Self Portrait Thursday – 1/21/10

I started a group on Vox a while back called Self Portrait Thursday  based on the Flickr group of the same name.  At first I posted  pretty regularly but then I kind of dropped off.  So I thought I’d start posting a self portrait here on Thursdays. Here’s the first one, not too exciting but I was actually between bites of spaghetti, lol.

i can read

I have to take a moment and post about one of my new favorite websites, i can read. I think I found it through someone’s recommendation on twitter, and once I visited it for myself I was hooked.

i can read is a very simple tumblog that posts images with words.

I always look forward to new entries, it’s a lot like Postsecret that way, except there’s no set schedule for updates.

I love to waste time just going through old entries looking for images that reach out to me in some way.  I’ve found that depending on my mood I’ll relate to different ones each time.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out.

Trying Some Blue

Here’s a couple of pics of the blue/turquoise eyeshadow I tried out today. Once again the colors look brighter in real life. Its not bad but its more of a night look than a day look.

Experimenting with Eyeshadow

My newest obsession is eye makeup, I’ve always loved it but I’ve never been brave enough to branch out and try the more exciting colors and techniques. Last night I stayed up way too late checking out eyeshadow tutorials on youtube. I decided to try and copy and silver, pink, and glittery black look I found.

I had to tone it down a bit since I’m working today but I think its a good way to start branching out. The pink stands out a bit more in person, I used my blackberry to take these pics. I’m hoping to try some blues and greens soon, but I just want to make sure I can apply them correctly.

Meet Carina!

My friend Erin gave me the cutest little vinyl figure yesterday, she’s a Tokidoki cat named Carina (which is also my middle name). I love how she’s got a little fish on her ear like how Hello Kitty has her bows. She fits right in beside my name on my desk. So cute, thanks Erin!
