I was in Raleigh for the Superbowl this year so Tom invited a few friends over so we could all watch the game on his new flat screen HD TV.  Bernie, Jay, and Corrado came by.

Tom made his famous wings and for the first time, made battered and fried mushrooms. They were so good! I didn’t even get to take a picture of them I ate them up so fast, ha ha. Bernie and I don’t eat meat so I was so glad that he came up with an alternative for me to dip into his homemade wing sauce.

For dessert I decided to make some Superbowl Sugar Cookies. I’ve got cookie cutters shaped like footballs, helmets, and trophies so brought them along with my favorite apron, Hello Kitty of course. I think they turned out pretty cute, even though my icing/decorating skills are severely lacking, lol.

If I make a cookie it’s probably going to have a heart, smiley face, star or something, ha ha!

Piddles had a great time, he thought everyone had come just to visit him.  After he got done barking at Jay (who kept forgetting his name and calling him Skittles, Pickles, and Puddles) he got petted by everyone and was in heaven.

It was great to have Bernie stop by, we’ve been friends since 1st grade and I’m so glad she’s living in Raleigh now so I can see her when I come up to visit.

I had such a great time, I love entertaining even if it’s just a few friends, food, and beer.  I can’t wait to have another excuse to get together and do it again.

Went to the Brewery last night to see the Pretty Things Peep Show it’s a cabaret and burlesque traveling show.  I got there a bit late so I only got to catch the second half of the show but it was great.  They had a girl who breathes fire and  2 dancers.

I met up with Bernie, Jay and Tom, and Brandy was working so we all got to hang out and order pizza during the show.

Here’s Bernie with Go Go Amy, the producer  and main dancer of the show.

I had to drive from Wilmington to Raleigh tonight in some of the worst rain I’ve driven through in a while.  I hate driving in rain at night anyway but tonight really sucked. At one point I was driving 45 mph on I-40.

It was worth it though since I got to meet up with Tom, Bernadette, Jay, and Brandy at The Brewery to see the Pretty Things Peep Show, it was a lot of fun.  I’ll post pictures later, now its time for bed.  Goodnight!

I found a poncho I knit a few years ago in the back of my closet. I remember liking to knit this because it went so fast but the yarn is so soft it sheds like crazy. Which is why it was in the back of the closet.

As you can tell I kind of suck at self portraits but that’s why I need to keep working at it. I also have a hard time finding good lighting in my house, it drives me crazy. Oh well, I’m no photographer that’s for sure ha ha. Hopefully there will be some improvement with them over time as my self portrait skills improve.

Feb

I’m going to give it a shot and try to post every day for the month of February, since I’ll be participating in NaBloPoMo.  It stands for National Blog Posting Month, they have a new contest every month and anyone who posts every day of that month is eligible to win.  I don’t really care about winning but I think it will be a good exercise  to get me to be a little more creative on my blog.

So here we go, day 3. Lets see if I run out of things to blog about. ;)

Thought I’d start another weekly tradition, Things I Love Tuesday.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance – this is my new favorite makeup item, a little bit keeps my eyeshadow from creasing for hours.  Thanks to Brandy for recommending it to me!

LOST – I just saw the season premiere it was so good! I  can’t wait to watch the rest of the final season.

And last by not least, my father.

Today is my Dad’s birthday.

I love him more than I can say on this little blog.

Thank you for always being there for me.

I love you so much Dad,  Happy Birthday!

I saw this bottle of Chocovine the other night at Harris Teeter and thought “Ok, this will either taste really good or really bad.”

Oh my gosh it’s so good!  It tastes kind of like a mudslide, chocolatey but strong. Very strong, lol. I hope it’s something they continue to carry because I’ll definitely buy it again.  If you see it be sure to pick up an bottle for yourself and try it.

I recently heard about this beautiful site from Eddie’s blog, it’s called Days With My Father.  It’s a photo journal about a photographer and his father who suffered from Alzheimer’s.  It’s beautifully  put together and moving, definitely  check it out.

Carina came with me to Raleigh this past weekend, and had an adventure of her own…

You know what I feel like?  A road trip!

Yay! Where are we going?

Great idea, the tea shop for a nice cup of tea.  I love strawberry white tea, it’s my favorite.

I get to drive us home right?

Sitting in the lobby at work

Today was pretty rough at work, I had the meanest most difficult customers I’d had in a while.

I’ve been working in a call center for about 5 and half years now, I know how to calm people down and let the nasty comments roll right off my back.   But a few times a year you get a REALLY bad one.  Then your day just goes downhill from there.

I was so glad to clock out at the end of the day.   Hopefully  tomorrow will be better.
